“There’s a point where it tips, there’s a point where it breaks, there’s a point where it bends, and a point we just can’t take anymore.”
Construction Notes:

A villain based off of cute ice cream in the world yummiest color scheme? Yes please. Honestly, I just couldn’t say no to her hair. I absolutely adore it and really was itching to have a cosplay with two toned hair. Plus two different eye colors! I really like the RWBY series as whole too. Neo will not be my only cosplay from the series, that’s for sure.

The wig is a monster. I took my old Kitty Pryde wig (Arda’s Luthien in Spanish Brown) and a new Rockstar wig (Curly 70cm/28″ in Milkshake Pink), sectioned out the pieces I wanted, and then just started snipping away. I took the side piece of the pink wig I cut out and added it to the bottom for a bit more length and volume. I used up pretty much all the wefts in both wigs to make sure it was full enough for Neo’s ponytail. I placed both quarter sized skin caps right next to each other so they create a smoother transition. Pieces of tulle were sew into a makeshift wig cap to help it keep its shape a bit better. I sewed in a few small pieces of white wefts to complete the look.

I decided to make Neo’s necklace on 2 pieces of ribbon after a failed attempt with normal necklace making methods. This way I could move the spacing pretty organically and just sew it into her top when I found a position I like.
I started draping for the front part of Neo’s coat. I like to start with a big rectangle and pin it until I get the shape I want. I put in the side seam she has as well as marked where I think I wanted the coat to end and the collar to be placed. For the tailcoat, I wanted the back panels to be long, whole pieces. The white was an unlisted fabric I found in the back of a store, but it’s for sure a polyester. The pink is a poly Dupioni. I made matching bias tape out of the white for all the edges and I believe this was the first time I used the stitch in the ditch technique! The lining was hand sewn in around the cuff edges. A fabric button was made with scraps of my pink fabric, but it’s not functional in anyway. There are 2 snaps in the front to keep it secure and in the correct position.
Using McCalls M7306 as a base I made her bodice and reshaped the bottom so the hips were cut out. I didn’t want to spend money on a lining at the time, so I do believe I made it out of muslin. I used leftover bias tape (look at all those colors!) as boning channels for the spiral steel boning. I caped the spiral steel with dabs of hot glue. The final fashion fabric is stretch sateen. It’s got a gorgeous weight and I’m so glad I over bought the amount because I still try and use this whenever I can (like for my Briar Rose Bodice!) because it’s just a dream to sew. I finished the bodice with a zipper up the back, and edging the bottom in matching bias.
The belts, pants, gloves, and boots were all purchased. Besides the belts, nothing else was really modified. Contacts are EOS Dolly Eye Pink and Geo Princess Mimi Almond Brown (Bambi Series). The umbrella was purchased and I changed it’s colors by coloring it in with a copic marker.
