“As long as we’ve got the determination, we can do anything!”
Construction Notes:
Mahou Meggles invited me to work on an idol cosplay with her! She had already been mocking up her Maki and I just fell in love with the skirt she had drafted. It’s also one of the few Honoka outfits that isn’t OVERLY orange, the beautiful navy balances it out. This outfit was the star of my second 30 Day Countdown Challenge. This costume involved custom 3D printed brooch &buttons, hand placed polka dots, and endless amounts of hand made bias tape.
Quick Jumps:
•Hat
•Wig
•Top & Vest
•Skirt & Shorts
•Boots & Stockings
•3D Printed Accessories
The hat is a base of felt covered in navy sateen. I hand cut and ironed on the top orange symbol. It’s attached to the wig via bobby pins that are sewn to the bottom. The white bow has thread sewn into the back so I can wrap the thread around the ponytail and tie it off.

The wig is a Theia in Autumn Orange and a 20” Wavy Curly Clip combined from Epic Cosplay wigs. I really wanted a short wig that had a skin top part. I heat trained the part to favor a side and trimmed the entire wig. I trimmed and styled the bangs with Got2B Glued and Tub’n Tile for the sturdier points. The side ponytail was created by removing the clip from the curly wefts, cutting a section out and rolling it up on itself. I then sewed the rolled wefts into the wig and combed the top hair over to blend the two and put it into a ponytail. This created a very nice amount of volume!
The top is made out of a polyester satin, lined in gold polka dot cotton and biased in the backside of polyester satin. I used McCall’s M7071 as the base which helped a ton. I edited the pattern to have front seams instead of darts; a front yoke with a placket; a wing tip collar; and puffed bishop sleeves with ruffles. There is an invisible zipper up the back. The bowtie and tie-around is sewn into the collar so it never moves around. The vest is made of navy sateen, lined in cotton polka dots, and trimmed in satin gold bias tape.
The skirt is made of navy sateen, cream sateen dots, lined in black silky silkessence, and gold bias satin. Mahou Meggles was a so nice and lent me her skirt pattern (which you can view here!) and this saved me so much. I hand cut and hand placed each polka dot. I attached it with heat n bond in a radial fashion. The shorts are made of the same cream sateen as the polka dots. These shorts are huge! They have an elastic band at the top, and have box ruffles for the bottom. The back bow is also a pattern from Mahou Meggles (GOSH WHAT A PATTERN CHAMP). It’s made of orange polyester satin, orange tulle, white bias and had hand cut out lettering in gold satin. The letters and orange symbol were attached with heat n bond as well.
The boots are painted with Design Master Colortool. The boot covers are interfaced, attached with E6000 and have a zipper up the front for me to get in and out of them. The gloves and stockings were purchased.
All of the delicious accessories were modeled by Toggle Photography and printed on a FormLab’s Form 1+ Printer in clear resin. They were coated in Design Master TintIT, have a bit of acrylic painting and are covered in clear coat. They look like little gummies and I’m soooo happy with this outcome! We had never used this printer or technique before.
