“You were so lucky, Sophie. If that wizard were How he would have stolen your heart.”
“No, he wouldn’t. How only does that to beautiful girls.”
Construction Notes:

I’ve always been a huge Studio Ghibli fan ever since my Mom introduced me to My Neighbor Totoro when I was very little. Like mostly, I’m completely swept away by the lavish worlds the studio creates and charmed by the simple but sturdy character designs. I had originally started making Sophie to attend a Studio Ghibli Tribute art show, but was not able to find a fabric I liked within the time frame. I picked it up 2 years later to knock it off my list and have a costume that’s easy to pack and wear.
Quick Jumps:
•Wig
•Dress
•Accessories

The wig in most photos is actually my first ever wig I bought for cosplay! It was originally bought for Twilight Princess Zelda from an online shop called Amphigory. I didn’t do heavy styling on my first wig so it was an easy and cheap repurpose, though I tended to use my natural bangs to make it seem more convincing. Since then I have bought a much better wig for her. I went with Wig is Fashion’s PL395 Brown Wig.
I completely free handed the pattern by draping and marking muslin on my dress form, Brookhurst. I decided to still keep her pretty cartoony instead of a realistic interpretation. There is an invisible zipper up the back of the main dress. Her petticoat is just Briar Rose’s petticoat, and has snaps at the waist for me to get in and out of. The fabric is white linen from Joanns that I dyed with Rit Dye (color: ). This gives me such a lovely texture BUT OH BOY does it wrinkle. I do not recommend it even for the texture.
Shoes, tights, and the hat were just simple purchases. I put the band of pink and ceramic beads on the hat by hand stitching them.
